The home to the Minangkabau People has some of the most exiting scenery you will ever see: peaks looming over deep canyon and splendid sheltered valleys. A giant mountain lake, rich volcano soil, dense forest, thick jungle and the terraced rice fields crossing by equator line. Villages perched atop deep ravines with unique traditional Minangkabau houses, easy to recognize by it's roof with the shape of buffalo horns.

Bukittinggi is the main tourism destination, situated on the Agam plateau (921 – 935m) surrounded by 3 volcanoes. Minangkabau is the largest ethnic group in Indonesia, spread over all of the country. They are well known for their matrilineal society.

The amazing flower of Raflesia the largest flower in the world blooming only eight times a year. 

Don't leave West Sumatra without eating some of the famous Padang food,  the most famous dish of Indonesia. Enjoy watching the traditional performance of the Minangkabau dancers. Let yourself be amazed by their daring 'Plate Dance' where the dancer dance on broken glass and plates.
