WILD PIG HUNTING

Wild pig hunting is very popular in west Sumatra. It is part of the culture and as a sport. The Local Language Persatuan Olah Raga Buru Babi (PORBI) is an organization who lists in every region the pig hunting, twice a week.

They hunters aren’t allowed to use gun, they use only spear or machete and trained dogs. The dogs will chase the pigs and the people following the voice of their dog barking. Sometimes the dogs can kill a pig before the hunter arrives.

The idear of the Minang Kabau People do Wild Pig Hunting are:

1-To kill the pigs. The pigs disturb the work of the farmers, they eat the crops. Without hunting they can not grow enough crops to live from. Because the jungle in West Sumatra is very large and bushy the pigs like to stay there. 

2-Sport, because they walk and run in Nature with unpolluted Air in the Jungle and bush.

In a big hunting Group at list 400 hundreds people join and 400 hundreds dogs. It will be very special experienced for you when you joint the wild pig hunting in West Sumatra.
